Musicfor International’s string quartet, QuartettOrfeo, based in Rome, will travel to Florida this July for performances and cultural exchange instructional residencies with South Florida music camps.

The Musicfor America String Orchestra, featuring the QuartettOrfeo will perform July 23, 3 pm at United Church of Christ, Ft. Lauderdale and July 29, 7 pm at Sunshine Cathedral, Ft. Lauderdale.

The Musicfor America String Orchestra, joined by the QuartettOrfeo, will offer us music by Mozart, Vivaldi, Rota and some arrangements that will be premiered during the concerts. The orchestra will be under the direction of the Italian conductor Lorenzo Turchi-Floris, who returns to Florida after a 3-year absence.

The talented David Charles Dunlap will introduce us to the Adagio by Remo Giazzotto (Albinoni) on the organ. The Quartett’Orfeo soloists will present pieces in different styles. The French violinist Charlotte Orcel will interpret Beethoven’s famous “Romance op. 50”, the Polish violist Barbara Kammer will introduce us to the wonderful “Grave” by Benda, while the Italian cellist Ilaria Calabrò Altan will interpret the “Oriental Dance” by Granados.

Performances and masterclasses will take place at Broward’s Gold Coast Youth Orchestra as for Musicall Conservatory in Miami for participants in their summer comprehensive music education and performance programs. The Musicall Youth Orchestra (celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year), recently took First Place in the international Summa Cum Laude Youth Orchestra Festival in Vienna, Austria. Both organizations are pleased to offer this unprecedented opportunity to the young musicians participating in their summer camp programs. Students will work in masterclasses with internationally acclaimed professional musicians, highlighted by side-by-side performances.

In addition, the QuartettOrfeo will perform informally at Preston’s in the Riverside Hotel on July 21 and 28 from 5:00 – 6:30 pm.

QuartettOrfeo performances in worship include St. Marks Episcopal, Ft. Lauderdale-July 23; St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Plantation-July 29, and Church by the Sea, Bal Harbour – July 30.
