Guido Galterio studied piano with Drahomira Biligova and composition with Alessandro Sbordoni. Subsequently he specialised with Konstantin Bogino at the Academy of Portogruaro (Italy) and in “piano accompanying” with Boris Bloch at the Mozarteum in Salzburg (Austria). He performed as a soloist and collaborated with the String Ensemble of the Mozarteum in Salzburg (Austria), the RAI Alessandro Scarlatti Orchestra in Naples (Italy), the Symphony Orchestra of the Zagreb Radio and Television station (Croatia), the Italian International Orchestra (Italy), the Florence Symphonietta (Italy), the Symphonic Orchestra of Abruzzo (Italy), the Ensemble Seicentonovecento (Italy).
He worked with directors and soloists of international fame: Luciana Serra, Josè Carreras, Cecilia Gasdia, Nina Beilina, Katia Ricciarelli, Antony Pay, George Shirley, Luis Bacalov, Susanna Rigacci, Andrea Melath, Alberto Zedda, Patrizia Pace.
Among others, he partecipated at the V° Piano Festival of Naples (RAI – Italy), Festival di Nuova Consonanza of Rome (Italy), International Autumn Music Festival of Como (Italy), Aalborg Opera Festival (Denmark), Romaeuropa Festival (Italy), “R. Leoncavallo” Festival of Locarno (Switzerland), Gedung Kesenian Festival of Jakarta (Republic of Indonesia), Millennium Festival of Madrid and Barcellona (Spain), Homage to Maria Callas at the Lincoln Centre (New York City Opera – USA), Lugano Festival (Switzerland) and he was part of the Verdi Celebrations at the Frankfurt Opera House (Germany) and at the Maestranza Theatre in Seville (Spain).
He recorded for Rara, MR Classic, Bongiovanni, Diapason and Hungaroton Classic. His performances have been broadcast by RAI – Radio3, RSI – Italian Swiss Radio, The Vatican Radio, ORF–Osterreichischer Rundfunk, Radio Suisse Romande, SBS Nippon Radio and Magyar Radio. He teaches “Reading Voice and Piano” at the Conservatoire “Luca Marenzio” of Brescia (Italy).
Guido Galterio is President of Musicfor Italia Onlus through which devotes much of his musical activity to the support and development of music in disadvantaged areas in the world building music schools, purchasing musical instruments, provisioning scholarships and the realization of chamber and symphonic orchestras. Thousands of children have thus the opportunity to approach music and broaden their perception and their perspective on life.
