The Festival this year is dedicated to the Cape Traditional Singers and Brass Band in South Africa.

This is a reality of the Mitchell ‘s Plain suburb in Cape Town in South Africa, where half the population lives a situation of great distress, and about twelve million people living in extreme poverty. The suburb has degenerated into urban ghettos that are dominated by crime, drug use, diseases and unemployment. The population is struggling every day, the children and young people are the easy victims of criminal gangs, always ready to recruit new people.

The Cape Traditional Singers and Brass Band is a community solution in order to remove children from the streets, giving them a reference of life and principles of dignity, humanity, respect, honesty and, above all giving them hope for a healthier alternative. The “club-house” of Mitchell’s Plain thus becomes a safe place, where members learn to sing and play instruments, benefiting from assistance and meals …
