SUMMERFEST

EDITION 2010

FRANCE – FLORIDA  – REPUBLIC OF PANAMA – BRAZIL

Designed to link the artistic and cultural traditions of the world with those of Florida, Summerfest – in its 19th yr. – presented by the Symphony of the Americas, Musicfor International and American Airlines is the longest music festival event to take place in Florida, and is one of the top cultural projects funded by the State of Florida’s International Cultural Exchange Program. This cultural exchange involves European and American musicians in joint performance throughout Florida & the US, Central and South America, and the visiting orchestra’s home country.

This cultural exchange begins in Europe in May, with Artistic Director, Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese and selected musicians of the Symphony of the Americas joining the Orchestre du Mont-Blanc (France).  The Symphony of the Americas has commissioned the Maestro Lorenzo Turchi-Floris a new creation for piano and string orchestra that will be performed throughout the all festival.

Summerfest in the US begins in June in Florida, with outdoor, educational, and gala performances plus outreach concerts by special invitation under the Maestro’s baton in the countries of Panama, Nicaragua and Guatemala. These outreach activities are presented together with local organizations such as Empressarios Juveniles, Sister Cities & Rotary Clubs International.  US Embassies throughout the Americas have also joined this partnership.

Summerfest educational events reach over 8.000 students – introducing the masterful sounds of American, European and Latin composers. Many have never before experienced the exhilaration live performances of great composers.
