When music is expressed with magic in its truest essence...
SUMMERFEST
EDITION 2013
ITALY – FLORIDA – REPUBLIC OF PANAMA
Designed to connect the artistic and cultural traditions of the world with those of Florida, the Summerfest is an annual festival that arrives this year to its 22nd edition. Presented by the Symphony of the Americas, Musicfor International and American Airlines, it is the longest musical event of Florida and one of the largest cultural exchange projects funded by the state of Florida. It concerns the fusion of European and American musicians musicians in the orchestra concerts in the country of European origin involved in the project, in Florida, in the United States, Central and South America.
It is with great pleasure that the I Musici Estensi Chamber Orchestra (IME) returns to Summerfest this year after the edition of 2006. On this occasion, the Symphony of the Americas has commissioned Maestro Lorenzo Turchi-Floris (composer in residence) a new creation for string orchestra that will be performed throughout the festival.
With a schedule of well over 30 concerts, the festival is divided into a first European part and a second American part. In Europe, during June, in north Italy, with Artistic Director Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese, some selected American musicians from the Symphony of the Americas will join with I Musici Estensi for rehearsal, concerts and recording sessions. Subsequently in July-August is a tour of about 30 concerts in USA for important institutions, open-air concerts, educational concerts, gala concerts and outreach under special invitations from embassies and universities in Florida and Panama Countries.
OUR “MISSION” FOR SUMMERFEST 2013
Summerfest educational events reach over 20.000 students – introducing the masterful sounds of American, European and Latin composers.
By prestigious performances at the Broward Center of Florida, at the Panama National Theater, the prestigious American Universities and the tough schools of South America where children often listen in disbelief symphonic music for the first time.
Here begins our “mission”. Thousands of students take music education programs given by governments, helping children to develop alternative plans to those that would lead them to the streets, to physical and moral poverty.
